A video tweet from the Kidsgrove v Crewe pre-season friendly on Saturday afternoon goes viral with millions of views within hours.

@dartslegend uploaded the video onto Twitter, with Kidsgrove keeper Kieran Harrison seen down on the ground, being tended to by a physio. There was quite a reaction form the fans in the stands watching on.

The video was captioned: “No one tell his wife… #CreweAlex @ Kidsgrove”

To which the keeper’s wife/partner Hayleigh Mayer (@hayleighjade) replied: “Saves me a job”

And it’s this tweet that instantly went viral, helping the video go on to, at the time of writing, get over 3.5 million views and 36,000 likes. And the numbers are soaring.

The Kidsgrove keeper @KieranHarriso16 then shared the video and wrote: “Lovely Rub 👀🥴

After being tagged in our post on Facebook, Hayleigh replied: “it was just a throw away comment I didn’t expect it to blow up like this 😂

@dartslegend added: “It looked like she was auditioning for the role of James Herriot!

“Best part of it is, there was nowt wrong with him – a guy in green dayglo top told him to go down so that the manager could talk to the players!

“I posted the original clip, it’s been seen by quite a few people… hope you’re both ok with that? No malice meant obviously, and you both seem to have taken in it in the spirit that was intended.”

The game itself saw Crewe win 6-0, Josh March and Phil Croker on target, Tabiner bagged a brace and Holicek also found the net.

Crewe (first half): Booth, Billington, Dancey, Connolly, Finney, Thomas, Powell, Tabiner, Agius, Hodkin, Trialist.

Crewe (second half): Trialist, Billington (Dancey (Scott)), Croker, Williams, Armstrong, Sanders, Lunt, Roberts, Holicek, Moore, March.

Crewe boss Lee Bell said after the game: “Really, really positive. I thought the players, what we have done because of the data afterwards, they’ve accumulated what we wanted to in terms of putting fitness through their legs and some pleasing aspects of the game, but also some rust in there.

“Obviously, it was half first game, only 45 minutes. So pleasing afternoon.”

Interviewer: “Where does the balance lie in terms of what you’re looking for? I know it’s not about the result, and it’s not totally about the performance. It’s fitness as well. But what have you asked your players for, and have you seen it today?”

Lee: “Yeah. I’ve not looked tactically, we’ve just been doing little bits during the week, when we can.

“I’ve just asked for them to try and deliver some of that, into the game, today, which can but the main thing for me, it’s about fitness, scores, results, goals, and and stuff.

“It’s just about fitness and making sure we get the players up to level and injury free, up to level that we want to.”

Interviewer: “Newcastle Town next. Will it be a similar approach to that game? Yep. Different sets of players and similar aims?”

Lee: “Yep. It won’t be different sets of players because they’re the only ones I’ve got.

“I know what you mean, but it’ll be this is similar teams, same message from us. With that, like I say, it’s all about fitness.

“We’re literally going into our third week, as the games, you know, over the next couple of weeks, you’ll probably see something different from us, or hear something different from me.”
