Thousands of Man Utd fans protest while Gary Neville and Roy Keane explains the current state of affairs of the club find themselves in.
‘The 1958’ fan group announced they were organising a protest which, at 3.15pm, would see them walk from the Tollgate Pub to the Munich Tunnel via the Trinity Monument.
In a statement, spokesman for ‘The 1958’ supporters group, Steve Crompton, said: “The club is slowly dying before our eyes, on and off the pitch and the blame lies squarely at the current ownership model. The club is facing financial Armageddon. Debt is the road to ruin.
“Sir Matt Busby would be turning in his grave at the current plight of one of the world’s greatest football institutions, which is being brought to its knees and in many ways becoming a laughing stock.
“The club is going backwards, and it’s likely to get even worse. We urge fans to rise up, unite and join us at 3pm on Sunday as we march to the ground and protest against the despised Glazers and the club’s deliberate assault on fan culture.”

Before the match, Amorim addressed the planned protests during his press conference, with his Man Utd side sitting 15th in the Premier League going into the game. He said: “For everybody in our club it’s a really tough moment.
“It’s everything at the same time. The only thing I can do, and our players, is perform well and win. People have the right to protest. I think it’s a good thing to do that. It’s part of our club. Everybody has a voice.
“But our job and my job is just to improve the team and give them something in this moment because they deserve it and they are amazing.”

Gary Neville said: ‘A few years ago, United had a team that had Lukaku and Pogba and Alexis Sánchez and Di María. I thought they had fantastic talent and were capable of destroying teams on the day,/
‘My worry with this group of players, as I look around this dressing room, is they are nowhere near the calibre of players that have failed Manchester United in the last 10 years.
‘I say that with some level of kindness. It’s not the most kind thing to say. I genuinely look around this dressing room and I think to myself, how has this club ended up in a position whereby it has recruited, as Ruben Amorim called it — I’ll quote Ruben Amorim — the worst Manchester United team in history?
‘I think that when you see that Manchester United have gone from the richest football club in the world to not being able to feed their own staff—that is a massive demise,’ he said.
‘And what’s hitting now on the pitch is hitting off the pitch as well. The debt, the poor recruitment, the lack of ability to find a performance. They’re now 15th in the league, which I never thought I’d see—Manchester United 15th in the league in March.
‘So there’s not a lot to look upon other than the fact that the manager does retain an element of optimism, and you hope that he can be supported and get it right for next season. But this season’s a bit of a write-off.

Roy Keane said: ‘We always talk about giving managers time, but you can’t keep losing football matches either.
‘And I can say that for most clubs, if you’re losing week in week out, they’ll be doubts in the dressing room.
‘Players will be looking at the manager and thinking “What are you bringing to the party?’
‘And when there’s been literally no reaction after coming into the club, well that’s a bit worrying.
‘The standards of the club have been dropping for a number of years, and have they reached rock bottom? Maybe there’s a bit to go yet…’
