A National League South club’s new owner excites their fans with talk of “huge potential” after agreeing a takeover deal.
Ali Alhamad, a Kuwaiti businessman, sees his company Proleague Ltd become the new Salisbury FC owners subject to Football Association and National League approval.
The takeover aims to secure the club’s future and unlock growth opportunities. Alhamad sees “huge potential” in the club, citing its community, stadium, and fanbase, with average attendances exceeding 870 at Raymond McEnhill Stadium.
Salisbury FC, a phoenix club formed in 2014 after Salisbury City’s collapse, was promoted to the National League South in 2024, finishing 20th last season.
Alhamad, a football enthusiast with a diverse business background, plans to focus on sustainability and stability, targeting a mid-table finish next season with an increased budget for manager Brian Dutton, while keeping players part-time.
Long-term goals include promotion and developing new revenue streams to ensure the club’s resilience.

In an open letter, the Directors and Shareholders of Salisbury FC said : We would like to inform our supporters, volunteers, sponsors, and the wider Salisbury community about the exciting new development at Salisbury FC.
The current Board of Directors have recognised we have reached the limits of what we can sustainably achieve at this level of the game. Competing financially in the National League South (and potentially above) requires a new level of investment and resourcing. Rather than allow the club to stagnate or fall backwards, we felt it was the right time to pass the baton to new leadership who can take Salisbury FC into the next chapter of its story.
We are incredibly proud of all that has been achieved during our time, both on and off the pitch. None of which would have been possible without the tireless dedication of our staff, players, volunteers, sponsors, and most importantly, you — the club’s supporters.
After careful consideration, the current board of directors and shareholders have decided to transfer the club’s ownership to a new investor, pending approval from the National League and the FA.
This decision has not been taken lightly. Over the past few months, we have undertaken a thorough due diligence process, in conjunction with the National League and the FA, to ensure that any transition of ownership is handled with the utmost care and attention. Our priority throughout has been to secure a future for the club that protects its values and unlocks new opportunities for growth and success.
This process has seen extensive conversations and careful analysis, during which we explored multiple investment options. We are confident that the new investor will be an excellent custodian of Salisbury FC and will bring exciting plans and the ambition to drive the club forward in a sustainable manner.
As part of the process of introducing you to the new investor, a fans’ forum event has been arranged. This event will be held in the Sarum Suite at the Ray Mac on Monday, 23rd June, at 7 pm. This will enable us to introduce the new investor and allow supporters to hear from him directly, with time to ask any questions they may have.
All further updates will be provided via the club’s website and social media to ensure that supporters, represented by the Supporters Club, are fully engaged in the preparations for the future, particularly next season, which is fast approaching.
Finally, thank you for your loyalty, passion, and belief in Salisbury FC. We look forward, just as you do, to seeing what the future holds for the club.
Yours faithfully,
Ian Hammond, Jeremy Harwood, Amanda Newbery, Hilary Billimore, David Phillips
Salisbury FC’s board of directors and shareholders have welcomed a new investor to the Ray Mac, which will lead to a change of ownership at the club, pending approval from the FA and the National League.
The decision comes after the board of directors concluded that they had reached the limit of what they could achieve at the current level of the game Salisbury has now reached.
The new investment in the club will come from Ali Alhamad, a Kuwaiti businessman, through the UK-registered company Proleague Ltd.
Mr Alhamad has made multiple trips to Salisbury and the Ray Mac during the process, meeting members of the board and some of the staff and volunteers at the club, to start building a picture of what is required in the future.
In a statement, Mr Alhamad said, “I am incredibly proud to begin this journey with Salisbury FC and to become part of a club with such a strong legacy and passionate community. From the moment I first engaged with the club, I felt the warmth of its people and the ambition that lives within the team, the staff, and the supporters.
“My vision for Salisbury is long-term. I believe in sustainable growth, investment in local talent, and strengthening the club’s role in the wider community. Together, we will build a foundation not only for success on the pitch but for a model that engages fans, uplifts the city, and secures a strong future for generations to come.
“This is not just an acquisition — it’s a commitment. I look forward to meeting you all, listening, learning, and working side by side to achieve something truly special at Salisbury FC.”
Mr Alhamad is a Kuwaiti entrepreneur, technologist, and lifelong learner with a proven track record of success across industries ranging from manufacturing and real estate to blockchain and cryptocurrency. A PhD candidate and Oxford-certified Blockchain Strategist.
Brian Dutton welcomed the new investment, “I am absolutely delighted that Ali has come on board. Last season, I mentioned a couple of times that the football club needed to find fresh investment in order to be competitive at the level.
“The Chairman, Ian Hammond, and his family have been outstanding custodians of this football club, and we’ve all been incredibly lucky to have had their commitment over recent years.
“Ian was the perfect Chairman a manager could ask for, allowing me to do what I was good at without interference, backing me all the way.
“But it was unsustainable and unfair to keep asking Ian to foot the bill alone for all these years.
“Ali brings excitement, enthusiasm and a renewed feeling of hope to Salisbury FC. Having had several meetings with him, I’m filled with confidence that the club will reach its full potential.
“Obviously, there will be apprehension going into the unknown, but nothing in life was ever achieved without risk. From a manager’s point of view, it is the right time for the football club to be taken in a new direction.
“I look forward to working with Ali, bringing on board his fresh perspective, and building a club that can look to carve an exciting and successful path into the next season and beyond.
“Finally, a huge thank you to everyone who’s worked incredibly hard behind the scenes to achieve this outcome.”
Alhamad told BBC Radio Wiltshire: “There is huge potential with the club, all over. The city, the people that attend, it’s a beautiful stadium, the people are wonderful.
“The main goal is creating a sustainable, well-run, community football club which serves Salisbury right.”
Alhamad, who has worked in manufacturing, the oil and gas industry, real estate, hospitality and crypto-currency, expressed his love for football, having also played while at university in the United States.
The logistical links to London were part of the initial appeal of Salisbury, but Alhamad said after visiting he felt a “connection” with the city.
“I felt I can build on this. I’ll be comfortable working with such a great community and it was the option for me,” he said.
Things are being done sensibly, while promotion is the ultimate goal, Alhamad said the aim next season is for a “mid-table finish” to bring stability to the club.
The budget for manager Brian Dutton will increase in 2025-26, but the players will remain part-time for now.
“It’s not smart long term to throw money lavishly,” Alhamad added.
“In the future our eye is on promotion, but it is not something we have our eyes on now.
“I’m mostly focused on creating a sustainable club with several revenue streams that are not available now and also [making the club] resilient.”
As mentioned, the National League South club’s new owner excites fans with talk of “huge potential” after his takeover…
@DomerSavage: Hopefully an exciting new chapter!
@ReeceMcSorleyy: Multi billionaire whites! Football league in 10 seasons pending. love this man already. We’re stinking rich
@dustywhite08: Interesting development – might mean I can return to Ray Mac – wasn’t going due to how my family were treated by current Directors. Change is not always a good thing so hopefully this will be positive.
@djc_86: Salisbury getting investment, is massive for moving them forward. There recruitment has been strong so far, could this benefit them more this summer? Either way, pending approval. You always want them to ensure the fans and club are looked after stability wise. Exciting times
@MatthewKing10: This both scares and excites me…
@FinnleyWest: The Kuwaiti Pandas
Here, We. Go.
@alfieg787: football league…
@gregwlambert: A new dawn. Up the whites
@HarryFrensham: Would like to see us play some more progressive football next season, I reckon we snatch Doué off PSG and put him in a front three with Lamine Yamal and Haaland
