A FRENCH footie fan scored a bit of an own goal when he asked his girlfriend to marry him amid the World Cup win celebrations.
The loved up Frenchman seemed to get swept up with the joy of the occasion and dropped to one knee in a Paris street.
Loïc Séverin was celebrating France’s final victory near the Champs-Élysées when he spotted the fellow supporter draped in a flag in front of a woman.
As dozens of jubilant fans surrounded the couple the lady wearing a black dress with a short blonde bob appeared taken aback by the romantic gesture.
Despite the crowd cheering them along she starts wagging her finger to say “non” leaving the man to stand up sheepishly while the surrounding supporters start singing “she said no”.
Loïc said: “I have no idea who the couple are, they were just part of the crowd watching the match.
“I saw a crowd form and got my phone out when I realised what was happening.
“When she said no, a group of us started singing.
“He seemed to take it really well, but I don’t know what happened to them afterwards.
“I am going back to the Champs-Élysées for the players return this afternoon.”
France beat Croatia 4-2 to become world champions in a thrilling final in Moscow.
But celebrations in the country turned ugly as riot cops were forced to use tear gas and water canon on crowds in Paris.
Two people died and 292 people were placed in custody across France following the country’s football World Cup victory.
There was more trouble of Monday morning, when riot police had to attend the Nike store on the Champs Elysee.
This was because crowds built up to try and get hold of the new France shirt, complete with two stars to signify two World Cup wins.
