Fans divided by surprise Danny Rohl U-turn as he looks set to stay as Sheffield Wednesday boss

Fans have been left divided by a surprise Danny Rohl U-turn as he looks set to stay as Sheffield Wednesday boss, according to reports.

First there was speculation Rohl was potentially going to Leicester, discussions were to be had on his exit from the Owls. Rohl seemed destined to leave. Sheffield Wednesday looked at one point in potentially having their under 21s coach Andy Holdsworth as manager, then Rohl’s assistant Henrik Pedersen, who was linked with joining Brentford as part of Keith Andrews’ backroom staff, signed a new contract Sheffield Wednesday , with it expected he would be their new manager. Now Rohl seems set to stay on in charge. All this going on while some staff and players still go unpaid for recent months and takeover bids reportedly turned down.

Rob Staton tweeted: Breaking: With hopes growing that a takeover can be completed in the coming weeks, I understand Danny Röhl intends to return to Sheffield Wednesday. Big news for #SWFC as the talented boss will continue as manager at Hillsborough.

“Danny Röhl ended last season making it clear of his intention to take on a new challenge. I believe this was indicative of the situation at Sheffield Wednesday and not a reflection on the club itself, the players or the supporters. Now he will return to #SWFC”

Mike McGrath: “Danny Rohl intends to go back to #SWFC. There have been ongoing discussions regarding the club’s current situation (wages, embargoes, facilities). Amid talk of possible takeover, seen as potential positive way forward.”

Alex Crook: “Danny Rohl is ready to return to #SWFC. Rohl had been expected to leave after staying away from the start of pre-season training but believes the Owls’ future is brighter amid talk of an imminent takeover.”

Joe Crann: Well… Honestly, the last few weeks at Sheffield Wednesday have been an absolute circus. If it wasn’t so miserable it’d be laughable. This summer just keeps getting more ridiculous.”

1867News: “The absolute cheek of Rohl! If he was interested in our club, our players and our fans, he’d not have walked out on them weeks ago and refused to come back to the job he is paid handsomly to do.

“No coincidence in the timing of it either, one day after the announcement about Pedersen.

“No doubt in my mind that he will have been advised by his legal team to respond that he should pretend that he is available to work now as if he is the wronged party here.

“This is simply in order to strengthen his position in the inevitable lawsuit.

“As disingenuous an offer as I’ve heard.

“Just like all the clubs he begged to employ him this summer, I’m not buying what he’s selling.

“Not that I have any sympathy for Chansiri or the club.

“This is what happens when you cannot make decisions, get poor advice and let situations drift until you have lost control.

“Rohl should have been dealt with months ago. Gone from the shame of having a preseason training camp with no manager, to now having two.

“As Malcom Tucker said,’”This is no longer a shambles, it’s an omnishambles. Word from St Georges is that this has not gone down well at all. You think a lot of players want to leave now, just wait until Danny gets back.’

“Word from St Georges is that this has not gone down well at all. You think a lot of players want to leave now, just wait until Danny gets back.

“As I said on Monday, as Rohl has not managed to get any club to pay compensation to employ him, he was faced with having to buy himself out of his contract. It is a very substantial sum. If no deal is agreed then it would have to go to litigation. If Rohl is refusing to work then he has very little chance of defending a claim against him. So now he makes a very public display of being ready to do the job as if he was never the problem. This is in order to strenghten his position.

“Now the club is going to have to accept his offer to return to work (which they cannot do as they have given Pedersen a contract) or they have to sack/suspend him. It is a legal game of chess.

“Both sides deserve to lose.”

As mentioned, fans are left divided by surprise Danny Rohl U-turn as he looks set to stay as Sheffield Wednesday boss…

@Jay_Blogs: Is this real life Wednesday bingo? What’s tomorrow’s bombshell?

@Gfoz142: Am i the only one thats buzzing with this news

@grumowl4ever: I don’t get why people are so hard on Röhl, if I had been treated like he has, promises broken I would want to leave too, it is his job, it is his reputation

@MrPaulPashley: As always. ONE MAN responsible, let’s not push it all on this guy. Under the right ownership, he flourishes.

@isthatdavidp: This was always the case. DR said he won’t work under DC. Everyone who has expressed an interest in buying us, have said they want to talk to DR & try to keep him as manager.

@fittall1987: Wow.. did not expect that. Not really sure how to feel. The main positive from this tweet is on the takeover front. I’d say he would need to do one hell of an interview to talk his way out of some of his actions

@tomswfc91: Imagine Rohl getting us promoted with a bunch of 18 / 20 year olds on £500 a week 😂

@ChrisEason84: I’m pleasantly surprised for a change. I don’t get anyone that has slagged DR off, he’s a wonderful manager and has been severely let down as we all have by DC.

@JohnHan65904595: What a load of bollocks Rob he’s coming back because he’s under contract and all his touting for all the other jobs that he’s put his name forward have come to nothing. Takeover could take months and he will still will be working under Chansiri.

@GeorgeeeThomp: This is baffling. If we are so close to a takeover that Danny is willing to come back, why are we selling assets for peanuts? My head hurts

@Ryan_Chadburn: People quick to slam Rohl for wanting the exit.. but we’re just as guilty as fans, me included. Probably 3/4 of the lads I know who go to games aren’t getting on next year because of DC.. Rohl is in the same boat. Who in their right mind would want to work for him?

@Owlsonline: The cynic could suggest he’s coming back because no one has accepted his advances…. While, also it was obvious he’d look elsewhere because of how the club has been run. But then there’s the finances needed to get him which play a part. The plot continues to thicken at #swfc!!!!

@ilsonowl: Right Owls fans.. if this is true, we back the manager and the players… I challenge any of you if your employer acted in the way DC has you would Jane done the same FACT… WAWAW 🦉🦉🦉🦉🦉

@Afoxich: How to taint your relationship 101. Absolutely no one is/was angry at his or any of the players, staff desire to leave the sinking ship. But his behaviour in the summer has been embarrassing!

@owlsaboutthat1: Man’s a hero (hear me out) He’s literally just done the biggest fuck you and protest in the clubs history that has basically just got us what we all wanted. Shut of that twat. Wants a knighthood, he’s saved us twice!!

@MSymonds10: This is so funny that he’s been for so many interviews and thought he was gonna walk into a new club and he’s gone back to Wednesday 😂😂😂
