Kyle Bartley ended up being sent off in a post-match scuffle after West Brom beat Sheffield Wednesday 2-1 on Saturday afternoon.
The match looked set to end in a 1-1 draw, however, Baggies midfielder Jayson Molumby scored a sensational winner in the 96th minute from a corner.
Then after the final whistle, Kyle Bartley received a red card for striking an opponent in the face with his arm after tensions escalated.
During the ensuing chaos, Bartley was involved in a clash with Svante Ingelsson, resulting in his arm making contact with the face of the Wednesday midfielder.
Despite his claims of innocence, he was shown a red card for violent conduct in the aftermath of the incident.
The result leaves West Brom sitting 5th in the Championship table with 47 points from 31 games played, while Sheffield Wednesday are 11th with 42 points from the same amount of games played.

Oh dear Kyle Bartley
. Need him massively in our back line and now he’s not available for the next 3 games for a straight red. Absolutely no need to do that when we’ve just won the game

West Bromwich Albion boss Tony Mowbray told BBC Radio WM: “I thought there were lots of positives. We were very good first-half, total domination, I think they had one shot.
“We had lots of the ball, just couldn’t break through. Second-half was more open, they came more into it, but we had some really good chances.
“Adam Armstrong is a good footballer, he’s going to score goals. If he plays the next 15 games, he might not quite get to double figures but he’ll not be too far off.
“Ultimately the score is 2-1 to us and we deserved to win over 90 minutes but the injury-time equaliser was a kick in the stomach for us and then to score again so soon afterwards is something the lads have been talking about – we don’t score many late goals, how do we cause carnage in the box at the end of a game to score a goal and win a tight match.
“It was brilliant movement in the box from Molumby. I felt over the 97 minutes we deserved to win the game. I am pleased for the fans. We just have to keep going.”
Mowbray on Bartley’s post-match red card: “I didn’t know until he came in and said he’d had a red card. It’s really disappointing and frustrating for us. I think he’s going to be really important for the team. It’s going to be a blow if he’s going to miss three games.”
Tony Mowbray, per Sky Sports:
“I think we deserved to win first and foremost, the first half was pure domination. They had one shot that our keeper saved well.
“They are a dangerous team, our analyst said they had the fifth best away record and it was a tough game. They came back to get a 3-3 draw at Boro so at half time we knew they had a capacity to cause us real problems.
“They grew into the game in the second half, as you would expect them to do with being such a decent team. If you break the 90 minutes down I think we were the most dominant team, we were better on the day, we deserved to win the game.
“It was a mad five minutes or whatever it was. I have said to my players this week, we very rarely score late goals, we need to create more chaos and gamble a bit.
“It was a set play with Molumby on the move in the box and it was a great feeling for the supporters. It was a game we should have won and we made sure we did in the end, it was quite dramatic.”
Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl told BBC Radio Sheffield: “The second half was a good Championship game from both teams, both teams tried to win it.
“It’s hard. I really feel for my players. I think we deserved a point. In the first half West Brom did more for the game, but it was ok for me, today. We changed the game with the subs. A draw would have been fantastic today, and deserved.
“We had the chance to take a point here but at the end we conceded a goal from a set-piece. It’s hard to take.
“We believed we could do something. In the first half we had a little too much respect sometimes.”
On the disallowed Djeidi Gassama goal: “I never complain about decisions, it is what it is, it’s football, but to take a goal back after 16 seconds is a little bit hard to take. It’s not really clear for me.”
Danny Rohl, per Sky Sports:
“In 16 months, that is one of the toughest to take. I think in the first half West Brom were the better team, they had more control and it was important to stay in the game.
“We tried to play football and we could not find the solution we wanted. We stayed a bit deeper to give them the ball and stop them playing through the centre and then we wanted to change it in the second half.
“I don’t speak about decisions in the pitch if it is quick. If the linesman raises his flag then no problem but it was 16 seconds from the goal to the decision. We take the lead there and West Brom have to come.
“The subs gave us a lift and the equaliser was deserved. Within two minutes we have a throw in the opponents half and we didn’t make the right decision and then it was a set piece.
“If it was going to be a draw, a good Championship game with both having moments and situations, but they took the points.”
Fans reacted with Kyle Bartley sent off in a post-match scuffle after West Brom beat Sheffield Wednesday…
@ryanmeston07: What an idiot
@blackcountrycad: Wednesday got what they deserved. Wasted time the whole game. Players were constantly going down injured. Shame because I like the owls and think their fans are great.
@ManicOwl1984: Molumby caused that by goading the opposition player. Unsporting behaviour
@local__demon: What is he complaining for? Most blatant red I’ve ever seen
@NeonBrown10: What’s Bartley doing giving Ingleson the forearm smash long after the game’s over..?? Is he just hearing the ghost of Kent Walton in his head? Wrong’Un. #swfc
@Twitsham83: Big man now is he?
@JoeAtkin_95: How the fuck is the silly cunt complaining??
@ethan_f3nn: What a fucking idiot
@J_swfc1867: Molumby ended up getting Bartley sent off what an idiot, all stems from him actually like a child. Just desserts
#swfc
@CalvinMcnuggets: This is such a cowardly and pathetic move by Bartley. If I caught a player on my Sunday League team, or an opposition player – you better believe we’d be having stern words and I’d be making sure he apologies before he scurries off home. No need for this behaviour, winds me up.
