The new Spurs era under Frank at began with a win, thanks to goals from Will Lankshear and Luka Vuskovic at the Select Car Leasing Stadium.
Chris Cowlin uploaded the clip onto Twitter, with it captioned: “Thomas Frank runs to get his tactics board at half-time.
“The communication with his coaches and players today was outstanding – before, during and after the match. And not only him, all of coaches constantly talking to and coaching the squad.”

Asked if it was a case of boxes ticked for a first pre-season game, Thomas said to SPURSPLAY: “Yes, lots of boxes ticked, and if we look in a bigger perspective, it’s been a good week, very tough and intense for the lads, so couple of good things, we’ve got through the week, touch wood, no injuries, everyone in a better, physical place, all the players got a good 45 minutes here, plus a good run after.
“The fitness box ticked, and it’s always important to keep a clean sheet, that’s very important if you want to win football matches, so good aspects in that. I
“ think it’s good we scored two goals from set pieces, something we’ve been working hard on.
“There were elements in the game I’m happy with, elements of the high pressure, elements of the counter-press, so when we’ve lost it, we can bank teams in, elements of having enough players in the box… but there are also bits we’d like to do better, but that’s normal.”
“That’s why you saw the blocking drill earlier in the week, everything is linked,” added Thomas. “We want to attack, we want to be brave but, unfortunately, we’re facing an opponent sometimes who also wants to attack, and when they are attacking, we want to defend well and put our bodies on the line when we have to.”
Asked about Mo Kudus and Luka Vuskovic afterwards, Thomas said: “Mo Kudus, he’s the newest one, I thought he was exciting to watch, had four or five very good actions where you can see what he’s about, his pace, his one-on-one skills, the way he can twist and turn going forward. That was a positive.
“Luka deserves praise, also an assist, great header, showed his physicality, his composure on the ball as well, he’s not getting stressed there when opponents are getting close – and what a strike!
“There were a lot of others where I’m getting to know them better.
“Of course, I’ve watched them a lot over the years, watched them a lot before I was appointed, and now in training, but this is where you see them here now and when you watch it back, that’s all the details we can go through.”

Twitter users reacted as Thomas Frank goes viral with his tactics board at half time of his side’s pre-season friendly at Reading…
@EnicGetOut: This is what many of us have been saying for a while now. Ange just wasn’t organizing the team properly. He looked half arsed on the touchline, never consulted his assistants & we never saw him talk tactics. Even the warm up was more thorough. At the top level details matter.
@1882spurs1: Good to see. Feel like we have a proper coaching staff again. As it should be
@allthingstozero: Will forever thank Ange for the trophy, but THIS is what we’ve missed. Where we lost those 50-50 games last season, Frank’s coaching will put us in good position to come out on top. Massive fan of this style of management.
@bridagul: It was wonderful to see and so refreshing. Seeing the coaches with tablets in the dugout was great as well. Everything being analyzed in real time.
@TheAngryFan2: I absolutely love this! As much as I loved Ange, you never saw him do this! We have a coach, coaching our players and thinking on his feet. The one thing I would argue is whether this is sustainable every 3 days. Planning and training the players for what’s coming next is tough.
@danielkjacobs: Hopefully this translates onto the pitch, but this just feels like what we’ve been missing for the last few years. Attention to detail matters so much.
@TalkingTHFC: Eye contact! Mylesy must not know what’s hit him.
@GaryRWard: Speaks so well, a clear coach & someone wanting to develop players. Really happy he’s our Gaffer.
@abimoorexoxo: i love ange but it’s actually quite nice hearing a manager talk about tactics
@pearcey33: Chuckled when Thomas Frank went to the dug out to collect his tactics board yesterday no electronics for him.
@Peopleschamp78: Tommy Frank with the tactics board is everything I need! Ange was just vibes and hope and he got lucky.
