Reason why Leicester are waiting to sack Ruud van Nistelrooy with replacement lined up

The real reason as to why Leicester are waiting to sack Ruud van Nistelrooy has emerged with a replacement seemingly lined up.

Leicester, who face a potential points deduction for the 2025/26 season, plans to sack manager Ruud van Nistelrooy after July 1st, 2025, to avoid dismissing two managers in the same Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) year, following Steve Cooper’s earlier exit.

Van Nistelrooy took over in November, losing 19 of 27 matches across all competitions, but in his time, he saw Leicester set a record for the first team in England’s top four tiers to lose eight consecutive home league games without scoring, matching a rare Premier League record.

The club finished 18th, relegated to the Championship with 5 games to go, 13 points from safety. But with two years left on his contract, Van Nistelrooy’s exit is imminent.

Meanwhile, it’s claimed that Leicester director of football John Ruskin had been pushing for Sean Dyche, this however has since bene denied by club sources.

Russell Martin was considered but joined Rangers instead.

Van Nistelrooy had previously expressed a desire for talks about his future, which had not yet occurred.

This is how fans reacted after the reason as to why Leicester are waiting to sack Ruud van Nistelrooy was revealed with replacement lined up…

@Ryanlcfc2: Appointing Dyche would be a political misfire and a footballing mismatch. It might win you clean sheets — but it’ll lose the dressing room’s creativity and the crowd’s belief. We need to build, not just grind. It’s a move to protect Rudkin himself, not to evolve the club.

@lcfckini: Not appointing Sean Dyche is a HUGE mistake unless we get Danny Rohl #LCFC

@thereallcfc: Seems after Enzo, Rudkin now wants to ensure managerial appointments are people who won’t challenge him or are his mates, hence Cooper and now Dyche, so disconnected from the owner has to go 100%

@LcfcEmil: Get Rudkin gone from our club

@Jdicko1884: What an embarrassment.

@Ashleypp1986: I’m sorry, but who do our fans really think we are going to attract to the club in our current state? If we bring Dyche in, I think it’s a coup, especially at champ level. He may be old school, but he gets results & as a proven track record of doing so in the top 2 divisions! #LCFC

@lcfcwaggy: It will be the same with every player we are linked with or sign aswell mate, we don’t have that spending power or pulling power anymore, we are a shambles and everyone is starting to see that now not just fans

@sam22ngram: Won’t happen but he’d [Dyche] be perfect 👍🏼 we need a full reset. Only worry is the younger lads but if they’re good enough he’ll play em, which they are #LCFC

@sparky__26: It’s not even the style of play etc etc that is what we need it’s the Pearson line attitude of saying no and holding people to account is what we need.

@Ryanlcfc2: Delaying Van Nistelrooy’s sack to dodge payouts makes sense financially, but the silence and no Dyche news only fuel frustration. #LCFC fans want clarity and ambition now. With points deduction looming, bold leadership can’t wait any longer. Enough delays.

@JackJ_: Here we go… Replacement rumours to pick up over the next week or so, a very important appointment to make. If it’s Dyche, those that disliked Enzoball will be delighted. But those that enjoyed our football under Enzo definitely won’t be satisfied.

@JakeAGriff: I think it’s ridiculous that this is what it’s come to.. both actually sacking Ruud for a start but having to wait a few weeks for the sake of PSR. Crazy. This is what football is though and it’ll be the same with a lot of clubs, managers and transfers this summer. 😬

@ChrisLCFC1884: Not sure why people are so against Dyche when the club is in complete and utter shambles. He would bring stability to the club and he’d fix our defense too. I view him as a pragmatist so I don’t know why people are worried he won’t play the youth. Maybe Rohl would be better sure but I don’t think we’re in a position where we can turn our nose up at a premier league and championship proven coach who can fix our defense

@hursty16: Dyche has already stated he’s best mates with Rudkin so it seems it’s not what you know, it’s who you know. Not sure whether he has what it takes to take the club in the direction most fans would like it to go?? Need a rebuild with the emphasis on youth!! #lcfc 💙🦊

@EdTucker89: I can’t see us going for Dyche. He’d speak his mind on culture and I imagine he’ll call out those at the top of the club. They won’t want that #lcfc

@sparky__26: Leicester fans opinions on Sean dyche and his football proves how little about football they really know 👍🏻 He’s not my number 1 choice but he’s 100% the right man for this shit show of a club currently. #LCFC

@LcfcEmil: The glazing Dyche gets is crazy. Is it just because he’s got a raspy voice and some funny one liners. I don’t want that at my club. Get someone who plays like Enzo/ Rohl but it doesn’t have to be them

@JasonClarkey83: 💯 agree 👍 same last season didn’t want Cooper but with the current situation we just had to grin and bare it but fans knew best and wanted him out. We need stability and rebuild then we can get the right manager in.

@Cherrypops68: Go look at some of the players he brought through at Burnley when they were in the Championship. Heaton, Pope, Mee, Keane, Tarkoswki, Ings, Brownhill, Cork, Barnes. Always tough games when we played them.

@Timbonda: It was always going to be someone out of work so we dont have to pay any compensation. I dont get why people are moaning when we have had to wait to sack Ruud so why would we get more in the shit by paying compensation for a manager at a club already, like Rohl.
